Finally part Duex.......FIPK= Here
Took the ZR5 apart last Thursday to send a piece of the intake to a fellow board member. He just traded the truck, and was selling the K&N FIPK off it, however he needed a part of the stock intake to be able to replace his missing piece.
So the ZR5 has been sitting in the garage for a week now, and over the memorial day weekend
UPS tracking says the FIPK box was delivered at 1:41. I've got poker with the guys at 5:30, then I'm headed to the garage to get it installed.

EH, not so great now.....Throwing codes, that I can only think are caused by the intake.
Fuel Trim Lean Bank 2 is the code.
I ran AUtoTap on it this weekend....Looks like it's adding 25% fuel at idle, and thats the most the computer is able to add......Guess I'm going to have to hurry up and get EFILive, and get tuning on this thing ......Just deal with the SES until then.

What the hell?? Do you think it has to do with the hookup around the throttle body? Maybe those extra parts were needed for a reason?
Did you try leaving the battery disconnected after installing it? Maybe it needs to adjust and "relearn" with the intake?
That really sucks because it logged many trouble free miles on the Jimmy

I had EFILive hooked up on Saturday afternoon, and had it reset all the fuel trims, and the problem was back on Sunday morning. I can't imagine those extra parts having an effect on fuel usage, and air consumption. If the motor was already flowing a little more than the stock tune was designed for (from various tolerance, and casting difference, etc)....then adding the intake just added that little bit to push it over the edge to the level where it sets a code. During some datalogging I did on the way into work this morning, it's only at 24.5-25.0% during idle. The rest of the time it's between 6% and 15% +/- some......It's close, just needs a bit more fuel at idle.
I'm not terribly worried about it, just a temporary agrivation. EFILive is at the top of my list of s### to purchase here soon. I sold AutoTap for $125, and my roomate is picking up $200 of the cost of the software (in exchange for a tune on his truck), so that puts me at like $325, and the overall cost is only about $700, so I'm easily 1/2 way there. I should have it within a month or so....I can add a little fuel in there on the tune when I get that, and it should take care of the problem then (or I can just turn that trouble code off, although thats a bandaid approach IMO).
I'm not upset or anything like that.....Just another agrivation to add to the list. This whole deal has been that way really (not even 1% your fault.....Just so you know). The rear mat didn't fit (floor is significantly different), as well as the front passenger mat being slightly different, and not fitting 100% correct. Then the code showing up while I was in Indy for a race that pretty much blew goats for dollars. Of course I also found a check I thought I had already deposited in the bank (1 months bills from my roomate), and come in this morning to find a slew of overdraft fees because I overdrew on Saturday thinking that money was there......saturday was just a PIA overall and I'm venting a bit......Like I said it's not even close to remotely your fault, just the way things worked out on my end......eh, what can you do.....[/vent]

Damn Mike! I do feel bad though! I just wonder what the intake changed that would cause those codes
I also wonder why the passenger mat wouldn't fit? The floor pans should be the same. I had to bend them to get them in the box so maybe they just need to lay flat and get their shape back? They fit excellent in the Jimmy and I had the same mats (different actual mats) ini my ZQ8 and they fit great there too!

Yea the front mats are CLOSE to fitting right. The rear isn't even close....No big deal on that.
Don't feel bad, it's all part of the hobby. It jsut added up on me all at once

Due to TOlerance stack ups, and atmospheric conditions, and a whole sle of other things my motor happens to be consuming more air than the stock PCM can adjust for, and is setting a code. It was already using more before the intake, and now is using a slight bit more, and that put it over the edge. Just the way it happened to work out..
I'm going to clean the MAF tonight, and insure it's working properly, as well as spray some WD-40 or starting fluid around the connections, and insure that there isn't a leak somewhere thats letting unmetered air in. That could also be part of the problem....I'm sure I'll track it down, as I just started this morning getting some good logs of it, and seeing where I sat.
Just ran my budgeting program, and it looks like I should be able to get EFIlive near the end of August, so that should make for only a month or two of headaches with the SES light. I'll dump the MAF shortly after that, and call it good anyway

Well I sure hope it all works out and you can fix is fairly easily. Maybe you'll get lucky and a MAF cleaning will fix it. Who knows!!
You could always sell the rear mat on Ebay and get some $$$ back on that.

Yea the rear mat will probably hang around for awhile. I'm trying to figure out if I can have it cut up by a relative I have that does upholstery, and make it fit.
It'll all work out in the end, just a matter of how I get there.

Don't feel bad. There is NO wrong doing on your part. I bought the stuff from you trusting your description, and everything came in EXACTLY as described. The FIPKs are notorious for coming loose unless really cranked down. I am sure you would have checked for this but, I'd just wanted to make sure.

I would expect if the leak was real big it would cause some driveability issues.....which I have none. Well I am teh dumbass......PCV system was either forgotten to get hooked up, or "blew off".....if it comes off again I'll know it wasn't my fault....If not then I'll take the beating for being an idiot, and not checking that first....what a dumbass eh?!?!

I'm thinking that when I had to put the rearmost TB bolt BACK in after I already had the intake on that I knocked it loose....
At any rate I'm going to go out and do some data logging here in a minute to verify for 100% sure that is the problem.
AutoTap goes in the mail to California tomorrow ......Gonna be a few months without a scantool until I can scratch togethor the $700 for EFILive.
