Removing Bed rails on ZR5

Post by BAsh125 »

I want to buy a 2003 CREW but it looks like the ZR5 are the only 03 left around here. Is it possible to remove the bed rails (easily). Is it just the standard stake holes that regular trucks have.

Thanks

First off , welcome to THE forum :D

Wish I could be of more help, but the Zr5 was not an option in 2001 when I bought mine.

I have not seen the bed rails and I am not sure how they attach.

There are no stake pockets on my truck.

I just did that to mine. The holes are about a quarter inch. 2 on each side. When they did the superliner on mine they covered them completely. I didn't like the bed liner that came stock.

So was it pretty easy to take the rails off?

Is the superliner better or cheaper than Rhino liner?

Thanks

It cost me $250. I like it. Much cheaper then Rhino. My guess they are about the same. The local company here that does it and they do both recommends this as the Rhino fades in our area of central CA.

This is my next mod. Hard to believe this is an S10. Of course mine will be yellow with a graphite black gull wing. Should be ready in the next few days. Image

I'd like to buy bedrails if anyone has them (and they would be simple to add on to a non-zr5). I can;t stand how scratched up the top of the bed is..especially working in construction

I pulled the bed liner out of my ZR5 to bolt on my CB antenna bracket. And I looked at them because I was wanting to add on the spray in bed liner to them. But I have know clue how to take them off. MASSIVE hammer maybe?

There is two bolts that hold each rail down. I don't remember what kind of bolt it was though. you can get to it without removing the bedliner. Probably would not be a bad time to remove the bed liner to clean it out underneath.

Cheers,
