looking to buy a crewcab
I am looking to buy a crewcab and was wondering what kind of things i should check for on these trucks if any. I have 2 in my area that both have 148,000 miles on them,one is $6500 obo and the other is on a lot for $7800. does this sound about right for the mileage on them? Edmunds lists them at about 5-6000 with this mileage.

Where are you located? That can contribute to condition and price. What model year?
$5000-$6000 is a better range probably?
What do you plan to do with it? That will help with options that are desirable.
Problem areas are: Dex coolant issues. Intake gaskets. Transfercase switch. Rear axle vent tube. Transmission. CV joints. Wheel bearings. Ball joints. Caliper slides. Dust shields. Gas tank fill tube. Pre-cat. Radiator. Distributor housing.
My truck was loaded with more than you can imagine and I let it go for less than you are looking at with only 92k miles on the odometer. If you are looking at my old truck for $7800, offer them $7500 and buy it now.

you guys are lucky to have such good deals near you. I ended up getting an 02 with 140,000 on it for $5500. It belonged to an elderly man and it seems to be in great mechanical condition. So far I am happy with it and think I got a decent deal for my area compared to the others with comparable mileage I've looked at.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to start making it my own. first mods will be a K&N cold air intake and 2'' cowl hood since i have the stuff lying around from past projects. I want to do a 2 inch lift and maybe 31 inch BFG all terrains if they will fit.

Take a look at swissing the air box instead of doing the K&N we have had a number of members have issues with the connection of the K&N to our top hat due to the inflexible plastic used 9allthough if you have the setup already see what happens). Go with the body lift not the 2" suspension lift that will give you the needed clearance for the 31's (you may need some cutting of the fenders)

Go with the body lift not the 2" suspension lift that will give you the needed clearance for the 31's (you may need some cutting of the fenders)
I know the 2 inch kits are crap and will likely go with the body lift if i lift it at all. I keep telling my self to not mod this truck and just daily it....lol. I have a 94 s-10 with the trailmaster 5 inch,3 inch body and torsion crank on 35's. currently starting a solid axle swap on that truck so maybe the TM lift will find a new home under the crewcab?
