New strange noise (step bar) * solved*

Post by MARBLEYARD »

As with most undercarriage noises, this I do not believe is a heat shield. When I hit a bump in the road a horrible "rattle" comes from the back right of the truck, but it sounds like a heat shield. I messed with the shields next to my gas tank and it's not them. My exaust is attached at all points and my tow package is secure. I think it may be suspension related but I feel no problems. It's a long shot but does anyone have any suggestions? :?:

74,000. I bought it new with 7 miles in 2003. I have already replaced the rear end in 2005 so I know it's not in there. (blew it out towing an 18 foot trailer with three hot tubs on it)

Shocks ever been replaced, if not I would replace them.

If you have sliding rear window open that and you might be able to narrow it down.

 I really appreciate you guys suggesting things! I crawled under my truck (again) and hit my knee on my aftermarket side step and "rattle" it did. I feel like a fool but I found it! :thumb:
