while washing my truck today i noticed on my rear right side i didnt have a wheel well lining and on the left side i did
i thought maybe it was there to block out the gas tank or something
is this normal or should both sides have the lining
how does it look on your s10s and sonomas???

My crew has the same thing. I think it came that way from the factory. It would have been nice If It matched the other side, but could check to see if they make one from the dealer or maybe make one.

It is there to prevent debris from collecting on the filler, just as you thought.
You may find it to be the source of an annoying "milk jug" like sounding thump when buffeted in a crosswind. I had to trim mine for clearance on the e-brake cables to stop the drumming.
