4wd

Post by ChevyMan6 »

Hey guys my friend has a 87 Jeep Cherokee 4wd. When he puts it into 4wd the back tires spin but the front ones don't. Does anyone know what that could be? Let me know we have to get him on the trails.
If it ain't a Chevy run it off a levy.

Well what can he do about it? Is there any way he can repair it and if so about how much do you think it would cost?

the auto dealerships can also fix their vehicles. so the local jeep dealership will be glad to fix it for him for about a thousand bucks. rough estimate though.

that is of course unless its...hal

Probably the vacuum disconnect on the passenger side of the axle, you can lookit if ya take a gander at it. A manual engager called a posi-lok will fix that.

take the 4 bolts off and pull the axle disconnect off and slide the gear over the gap from the inner xle and outer axle. with the truck on jack stands all 4 wheels should turn.... mine was bad and I put a manuel cable kit on it.
