Mile Market Extreme winch mount-- Anyone got one? Or a pic?

Post by quickbiker »

Ok, I finally got a winch. Got a really good deal on a Mile Marker E12000 winch. It may be a bit over-kill, but I'd always rather have too much, than too little. And the specs on Mile Marker winches are great, seems the current draw is remarkably low for the pulling power it has compared to any others.

So, I was researching what kind of mount to get. Seems the only one that can handle all that power is the Extreme mount from Mile Marker. The Warn and others only handle up to 9k and seem thin. The MM is rated to 12k lbs, 3/8" steel, whew, and the guy says it weighs 82lbs. And I already have a set of Superlift keys of ebay in case my front drops too much, cause I already bottomed out on one of the adjuster bolts for the keys. So I am all set for the weight. And you guys oughta see all the stuff Superlift has on Ebay, they sell all their scratch and dent stuff on there, some good deals and hard to find stuff.

Anyhow, I'd love to see a pic of this mount up close on an actual S10, if anyone knows of any. Seems this winch is fairly rare on S10's, can't find any on searching. The best price I could find is like $519, so that may be why. It's listed for only years 98-03, so maybe it's still too new on the market for many to have yet. :?

Ok, so the mount is easy, how about the winch install?

What size power supply cable did you run? Where and how did you attach it?

You bought the solenoid for cutting the power supply. How did that go? Where did you mount the arming switch?

I assume that it has a remote?

Any changes or mods that you are going to make? Or have made?

EDIT:Sorry I messed up you reply

Uh huh! See, all that editting end up bite'n ya after all! I forget what I wrote there, but did remember something else I did. I had to install superlift keys also to get my lift back. I guess there is more involved than I thought. I guess I should do a little write up. lol. I did the install so fast, seemed like I slept through it all.

Yep! The "quote" and "edit" buttons are too close together :!: I hit the wrong one and noticed too late

I guess we are all lucky the "delete" button is farther away

So what did you run for power supply cable? I decided that 2 ga. was plenty.

Is that a cable security system?
