spacers.
i just thought of a question reguarding spacers for the rears. i noticed on the rear inside the bed there is a place where the tires have rubbed while the rear has flexed alot. now it is stock right now, if i put spacers on the rear and put alot of weight in the back or hit a big bump will the tires now hit the fenders instead? i really do not want the fenders to get hit. it sounds like right around a 1.5 inch spacers will bring the rear in align with the front. we tow a fairly large boat and get a good amount of rear end sag, so putting spacers on i am concerend with the tire being even with the fenders and then hitting them in bumps. also what about putting shackels on the back? will the stiffen up the rear when towing? and then maybe a 1 inch t-bar crank is that ok? with the 1 inch what tire can i run? sorry about the questions and length, but yall sure are informed on these things, would appreciate yalls opinions. thanks guys/gals. tyler

Re: spacers.
If you check the Stock Dimensions, 1.25" spacers are as close as you can get to the same track. No guarantee that they will not rub also, when fully "stuff't". Mine never have, but I have a rear lift.amxguy1970 wrote:i just thought of a question reguarding spacers for the rears. i noticed on the rear inside the bed there is a place where the tires have rubbed while the rear has flexed alot. now it is stock right now, if i put spacers on the rear and put alot of weight in the back or hit a big bump will the tires now hit the fenders instead? i really do not want the fenders to get hit. it sounds like right around a 1.5 inch spacers will bring the rear in align with the front.
Shackles would not be a good choice if you are towing heavy loads. There is no track bar on these and the rear axle moves side to side too much. Adding shackles magnifies this problem. The shackles ride as well as stock , pretty much, so it will still be too soft when towing a heavy load.we tow a fairly large boat and get a good amount of rear end sag, so putting spacers on i am concerend with the tire being even with the fenders and then hitting them in bumps. also what about putting shackels on the back? will the stiffen up the rear when towing? and then maybe a 1 inch t-bar crank is that ok? with the 1 inch what tire can i run? ...
If you want to retain the stock ride characteristics and add some ride height
, you might consider the Boise SpringWorks kit or if you not concerned with the ride try an add-a-leaf or helper springs
As for tire size with no rubbing, the stock optional 29" tires can still rub with some effort, so it depends on how much rubbing you are comfortable with.
IMO, there is no "Not rubbing" on these trucks, when it comes to tires. Some rubbing is worse that others, and where mine rubbs the frame does not worry me.

thanks
that is very helpful, i will deffinently look into getting either of those. which ever do the least amount of sag i guess, ride is not too much of a factor. will both of those raise the back end up? if so i guess i need to turn the t-bar a few times to level it out? how many turns make a 1 inch raise? finally 29 inch tires were optional? so i guess mine has the smaller ones? if i do the t-bar and add a leaf will 29" fit ok? what about 30"? thanks again. what about the fenders if i add spacers in the back, any ideas? i don;t want any fender damage.

Yes, some more than others.amxguy1970 wrote:that is very helpful, i will deffinently look into getting either of those. which ever do the least amount of sag i guess, ride is not too much of a factor. will both of those raise the back end up? if so i guess i need to turn the t-bar a few times to level it out?
IMO , the multiple leaves are the way to go, that way as you add loading they become progressively firmer, resisting the tendancy to sag.
I would say a mild "crank" (I prefer adjustment) would be in order. Check out the Trim Height Specifications and just go to the high side of those. Make sure you do not bottom the "porkchop" in the crossmember.
Check out- Torsion bar Raise and Trim Height Measurementshow many turns make a 1 inch raise?

Yes, I haven't seen your tiresfinally 29 inch tires were optional? so i guess mine has the smaller ones?
I don't know what you plan on doing, but I'd say 29" would be only minor rub in really hard articulation, if any at all. 30" might be pushing it if you articulate much, but some are doing it with little or no problems. Stick with the stock wheels rearspacing and I think you'd be OK.if i do the t-bar and add a leaf will 29" fit ok? what about 30"? ... what about the fenders if i add spacers in the back, any ideas? i don;t want any fender damage.
I am running 31-10.5/15 Geolandar's, 1.25" spacers, Boise SpringWorks kit, front T-bars "tweeked" and 2" BL-
Even with Bushwacker flares rubbing is not an issue for me.
My front tires rub the frame at full lock during articulation, but not enough to notice really.

no they wont rub the fender if you put on spacers...they still will clear.
here is a stuffed shot of
31x10.5 with 8" rim and 5" of bs with 1.75" spacers.
so with the width of the tire, its a good 4" wider than stock.
