frame question

Post by Justin »

are the frames for the crewcab and extended cab the same? All I really want to do is replace my dual exhaust with a stainless steel setup. I went to a custom exhaust specialist (only one in RI who can do stainless steel) and he is booked till mid september. I noticed that gibson makes a 2.5" dual exhaust setup with 3" tips for a 99-03 extended cab shortbed. I wonder if this application would fit our trucks and use existing exhaust hangers?

Helms manual lists the same frame specifications for:

Pickup, 4WD, Extended Cab, Crew Cab, Short Bed

That doesn't mean that all the mounting points are the same , but it might work.

I have the Gibson single 2.5" and am NOT pleased. Poor fit and poor perfromance. From speaking with them, I get the impression that the Crew exhaust is specific to the Crew. I can't see their duals fitting when the single for the Crew-specific really doesn't. See my thread "New Gibson cat-back" and the photos on my Yahoo site for pics.

It would fit if the gas tanks were the same but they aren't

Standard cab , ZR2 , and Blazer would be different for sure.

Be careful of the model year also, I know there were some Cat. bolt pattern differences.
