Today I installed a Schumacher 1.5 amp slow charge battery charger/maintainer.
This vehicle mounted onboard battery charger plugs in along with my cabin heater and engine block heater. The idea is to keep up with the parasitic loss I have from the inverter and maglight charger. I have not had problems, but this should be a good idea and since I plug my truck in all the time anyway, it will keep the battery fresh.
I mounted it behind the grill below the right headlamp assembly:
The brackets are included. I used self tapping screws to mount it. It was a little tight , requiring trimming the inside of the grille for clearance. Nothing drastic though. I plugged this into a 24" heavy duty triple outlet cord and ran the single cord out the frame horn.
With the grille installed I can see the LED status indicator in the gap between the headlamp and center bar.
Autozone has this charger for $26.99. It was out of stock, but could be ordered. Shucks had one on the shelf for $31.49. The heavy duty cord I used to plug them all into was $11.99 at Bimart.
