4wd problem!

Hi forum, first of i want to apoligize for not coming around, so i am sorrry i have not been around..i have been really busy with college, but i went to houston a few weeks and when coming back on the interstate i noticed a weird sound and got off the interstate and it was the exact sound of a dirt bike. It did not do it at 5mph but about 6-8 is when it started, and the faster i went the louder/higher it got...i also knew it was coming from the front differential. so i got off pavement and put it in 4 wheel drive, went in with no problem, took it back out and have not had a problem since. Plz tell me anything you might know to help.

Do you regularly exercise the front differential?
They can become sticky with lack of use.

Sometimes there can be corrosion in the cable from the actuator to the differential. Also check vacuum lines. The one to the actuator as well as the lines across the firewall. There is a little short piece that seems to deteriorate near the power brake booster.

Just some things to check.

I make a point to use it about 3-4 times a month..i go down dirt roads and lock it in..im really easy on it i dont let there be any pressure im usually in N or rollin no faster than 5mph...Love my truck...but i just cant believe, least i think it was trying to engage...with me not pusing the button..but im taking in..maybe i can see what they say..ill let the forum know!
