Split topic-HJ
Well, I am in a holding pattern on my sliders and waiting on the second set of flares being purchased from Justin and the lack of mods is killing me.
I may have stumbled into a new flex-a-lite black magic flx-60 electric fan, which is not recommended for latter than '97 S-10s and it has been covered in this thread. discussed again in this thread and again in this one but, the price is right and lacking a garage, with cold weather approaching, I thought I would give it a whirl.
Positive and negative comments welcome.

If you want off the shelf go with the 210's

I concur but, the price is so right I think I can turn a profit (if it is not adequate) no matter what. I am not comfortable with even the 210.HenryJ wrote:If you want off the shelf go with the 210's
I wish I had the access and time to salvage yards as you do. I have not searched here but, a lot of forums I have looked at sugest the taurus fans and through my casual searches here, I have not found a thread but, am sure it has been covered. and am sure it is lacking..
Am just looking and researching. Thank you, Brule.

The Taurus fan has not been covered here. It has some drawbacks.
Huge amperage draw , lower CFM and single fan. I have no idea what the shroud looks like, or the best way to mount it. I hear of those who mount it inside the stock fan shroud.
Removing the stock fan shroud , as an obstacle was one of my goals.
The benefit is that they seem to be dime a dozen and have two speeds.
I have heard of quite a few streeters who use them, but I'm not sure if I have heard from someone in the hot climate who uses one for crawling in a 4x4.
The Taurus fans are used to cool smaller displacement V-6.
The advantage to the LT1/LS1 and the Flex-a-lite 210 is that they are proven to cool a V-8.
I am not saying a Taurus fan is NOT the way to go. I don't have enough first hand experience with them to say that.
I did choose the way I went with quite a bit of research too though.
