CV joint question

Post by Jeff »

OK guys, maybe a stupid question,

The CV joint on the drivers side does not leak, and has no play in it at the joint, but has movement in it where it slides into the pumpkin. I would say probably 1/16 of an inch up and down, side to side. passenger side is tight, very little movement. I have been noticing a little vibration in the 70 mph range, all drive shafts and ujoints in good shape. Could the driver side cv be causing this vibration, or is this amount of play normal? If repair is needed, would you think it to be the cv joint, or the pumpkin seal?

As always,

Thanks

I'm certainly no expert on this subject, but I would think that there shouldn't be any play at all. Could it be a bearing failing?
