I just ordered and installed the Chevy Skid Plate Package listed in the Mod's page of this site. It was a nice set for the price and a very easy install. Thanks for the R&D on the part numbers.
However, what are people doing for a transmission pan skid plate? When I look under the truck the nice thin and flat tranny pan really seems just be sitting there waiting for a log or a rock. Is there an aftermarket plate made? Has anyone damaged theirs or is it protected enough tucked up between the frame rails?

I thought the same thing when I installed my shields.
I wondered why everything but the transmission is protected?
The only thing that I can surmise is that the area around the transmission needs to be rather "open" to dissipate heat.
I have not had anything come close to the trans pan, that I know of. Having seen some vehicles that have been very abused, the transmission pans seem to be in a pretty safe place, I guess. I have only come across one pan that was damaged to a point that it may have compromised the function.
I am not too worried about mine. If there was some concern for a rock crawler, I suppose a couple pipes running from the differential shield to the transmission mount could be fabricated.
