lifts, tires and towing

Post by Brad »

When I put 31s on I was concerned about towing my trailer. It actually towed better with the wider tire. Then, when I had the 5 inch TM I was concerned again but had no problems. Now I want to change tires. My tires now are 31.5x11.00 roughly and they are too small. I like BFG 325/60/15s and I like 33s on our trucks. I think 33x12.5s wil rub and I don't want that again. How much power will I lose going from 31 to 33s?
Any ideas? I may change rims too.

What gear ratio?

Post by KCustom »

What ratio do you have now...if you are running 3.73s and go to 33's you will notice some power loss. The key if you are not planning on changeing your gears is to reprogram you PCM for the new tire size and maybe change your shift points....(Hyper tech PP III)
