Bilstein Shocks/Ride Height/Install Questions

Post by D_Wayne »

Several Questions: I've ordered my Bilstein shocks for front and rear. Will installing them affect the ride height enough to throw off the alignment? Do I need to change/check anything else after install?

When replacing the shocks, do you need to support the suspension with a floor jack? Or after raising the truck and placing on jack stands, is it just unbolt the old and install the new? Thanks.

No Alignment should be fine, if not better since you won't be bouncing around as much now.

Nope. But look things over as you do the install.

D_Wayne, this is a repair/mod that is surely in my near future as well. If you have the means and wouldn't mind... please take as many significant pics throughout the process as practical. Any comments or suggestions or warnings along the way would be appreciated as well.

And HenryJ, maybe we could get them added to the "Shock replacement" section on the mods page?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks HenryJ. Not a problem. I have a camera. The only hard part is trying to figure out how to load pics :)

i do have 1 small suggestion, if the shocks are compressed by a plastic band dont cut them free until youve positioned the shock, i think it makes the fronts a little easier to install :thumb:
