Just working on my rear bumper build.

This bumper has been a ton of work. I gained 3" of ground clearance. 3" of length was eliminated. I measured the departure angle before and after. 29 degrees to 36 degrees. I did add some weight, but only 25lbs.

I have been running an Eaton E locker for about two years. This past summer I noticed that it wasn't locking properly.

THIS LOCKER DISENGAGES IF YOU CHANGE FROM FORWARD TO REVERSE RESULTING IN LOCKING UNDER POWER! The locking pins have a tendency to wear out under this condition. I am not saying bad things, I am only giving info from personal experience.

Hrmm def a drawback there considering back and forth is whats needed to get out of a lot of situations. Whats the Grizzly use, clutches?

Grizzly is similar to a Detroit or a lunch box (except it comes as a complete carrier). It was an expensive lesson.

Flap wheels will make short work of that. I just didn't know if, I was seeing the debut of the first S-10 Crew Cab rat rod or not.

2.5" RC update;

I had CV boot issues and I had CV binding issues. I also found the passenger side upper control arm broken in the center of the weld. I have now swapped back to the factory upper control arms and I will stay with those until I SAS. The BJ's on the RC control arms were still fine and No other issues but changing CV's wasn't my idea of fun. I still had my original CV's in prior to the lift. I went to the junk yard and picked up some GM factory CV's and installed those. I use my blazer off road and as a DD so I like everything to stay in good working order at all times. RC said they will warranty the arms, but I will probably just sell them with the RC shocks. My factory bilsteins went back in and I realized how much rougher the ride was with the RC lift/shocks. I am not saying this lift is a bad lift I am saying it didn't work for me. I am keeping the diff lowering bracket because it didn't cause any issues.

Made a skid plate because the stock Alum. one was bending. 3/16" plate and some cutting and welding.

A SAS is now in progress.

I will update when I have time. I did however want to share the info I found on t case play.

I had a question as to how much play should be between the input and front output shaft so I checked a t case with only 50 000 kms and compared it to this one.

This is what I found. The current point is the starting point with the front output fixed (unable to move). The second mark is where the arrow went to in 4 hi The third mark is where it went to in 4 lo.




Both T cases had the same amount of play so I will install the 233c with the fixed yoke. I also checked the oil condition and it looked used but good. No recent oil change to hide problems.

I hope this info helps someone to find out if the T case chain has stretched.

What would you charge for a pair of the dana 30 to s10 hub bearing spacers?

I have no plans on making any spacers right now. My focus will be on getting the sas finished. I will send you a PM if I happen to get some spare time.

Alright, no problem. If you do end up making more, check with me, I'll probably buy a set. I was trying to see who I could get to make them local, and didn't have any luck. Build looks great by the way. What gears does the front have?

It is an XJ dana 30. Where did you see the build? A YJ would have the spring perches already, but where would the fun be in that.

Just a quick update so everyone knows.

I am doing a solid axle swap on my blazer. The RC lift caused me too many problems and I am running tougher trails now so custom IFS or SAS.

The plan,

Dana 30 front diff with 4.56 gears open for now because I drive on icy streets and I can't justify a selectable yet.
Stock 8.6" 10 bolt with 4.56 gears and a yukon grizzly.
Front will be 4" waggy leaf springs in a spring under configuration
Rear will be a stock s10 blazer pack with an extra main leaf cut off at the eyes in a spring over configuration.
T case will be a first gen 233 with the fixed front yoke out put.
Tire size will be the 33x10.5x15's I have now with a plan to go to 35x12.5x15 KM2's.

I hope to keep the blazer as low as possible but with the 2" body lift I may have a couple of issues.

I saw it on s10forum. I've been lurking there. Been gathering parts for mine... But I have recently acquired a new project that is taking my attention and will soon be taking s10 build money haha. Bought the old village work truck (92 c1500, 4.3/700r4) from my local town for $300, buddy wants the motor, I want the frame and cab. Planning Tbi 5.7/t400/205/dually width 60/ 70 with srw 14 hubs/ 52 inch springs in front. Plan is to strip the parts from 2 of my trucks and put them under it so I have less junk lol.... I have way too much junk

Thank you sir. The standard trans with 3.42 diff gears and 33's didn't like where I was going with it.

I don't want to go crazy. I will stop at 35's or even a 34". There are Big rocks where we go camping so I like to be capable with out breaking and replacing idler arms. I can still run down the hi way smoothly at 120 kms/h. That is important for me too. I don't want to trailer a vehicle.
