Ordered Bilsteins Yesterday

Post by Jim »

Does anyone have these shocks? They seem to get rave reviews. I've even seen used ones on Ebay. The stock GM shocks you cant give away. I bought them from central4wd.com set of 4 for $256.00 inc shipping. I like to buy stuff from shops in my own town but after checking around & getting prices like $346.96 + tax :!: I'll go with the web.

Congrats! You're going to love them, "truly a lifetime shock"

Here's the thread, when I got mine: Bilsteins

The price you paid is about average.

FYI Offroad warehouse (ORW) has them for $55.99 ea. and $12 shipping on a set of 4 , for a total of $235.96

www.shockdude.com has them listed as $50 a piece...That was the cheapest I could find. If you would like to make a group purchase, let me know...Maybe we could get 4 or 5 to get the cheaper? :?:

Shockdude shows $59.95 ea. -HJ

Jim, if you can post the part #'s for the front and rear, I just want to confirm that there have been no number changes since I ordered mine.

$59.95 seems to be the retail price most places. When I did my looking free freight was one of the better deals out there.

Wonder why the listing has not been updated to include '02-'03 ?

Did you find them listed?

Only a guy on Ebay listed to 03

I can't imagine why they wouldn't. The chassis is the same.

I think it would be a safe bet , that they will fit just fine. If you have any doubts , contact Bilstein phone# 1-800-537-1085

Be sure to let us all know what you find out :D

I am 99% sure there are no changes to the suspension for 02 & 03 from 01. As a matter of fact I think they will be the same for the Colorado. When you here GM talking about the refined suspension on the Colorado  , When I was laying under the Canyon at Carlisle I was very dissapointed to find the same setup we now have. The shock dampening would be more efective if they were mounted further out on the A arms. Doesn't the Trailblazer have coil over front suspension?

I'd say no, during normal street driving you won't notice much, maybe slightly firmer.

The big difference is when you take a corner, much less body roll.

And my wife quit complaining about how the old shocks made her "sea sick" from all the swaying.

Everyone saying that the stock GM shocks are terrible is weird, cause my Blazer came with Billsteins, and my truck has the 3.42, so there wasnt a heavy duty towing package that they were part of or anything.

Just my .02.

Boy , You guys should have "bought" together and tried for free freight or some other discount.

Would have made a good GP.

Jim, how did the rear sway bar rate in the handling dept? #3 ?

Thats hard to say I think #3. I did the bar within the first month of ownership so I can't say I had much experiance before it. i always upgrade the sway bars first. I put cop car bars on me 84 Elcamino.

That's what I was saying though -- my 2000 model Blazer came from the factory with Billsteins -- I figured the Trucks and crews would get them as well.

The majority came with the standard duty AC Delco shocks. They are a gas charged shock (for a few seconds after installation) but do not last more than a week or so IMO.

If anyone wants a set of the stock AC Delcos PM me. I had them all replaced at least once under warranty. The rears have less than 200 miles on them.
