2002 GMC Sonoma CC 2wd

Post by Lawdog1911 »

Hello again, I was reading that there were no 2wd Crewcabs made. The one I bought came from a lady who bought it at carmax. I does not have any 4x4 buttons or anything in the cab. The front does not have axles or front differential or transfercase. It does have torsion bars and the wider track though. Has it been removed?

Good question. What is listed on the RPO code list? How about the VIN? Those will tell the tale.

That may be one of those '02s, that I found, that didn't come with the torsion bars. :?: The wheels are definitely 2WD OEM ones.

Is it just me or the camera angle? It doesn't look like it has the bulge in the box like the 4x4's do.

I can't tell if it has a bulge or not. If it doesn't have them , then it is a conversion bed. Those usually did not get the flares on the bed though IIRC. I think they got edge trim?

Painted bumpers leans to '02 or better. Sliding window was not standard equipment after 2001.

Those wheels are 2wd, but the axles are not since the wheels sit very wide. 2wd axles are narrower.

It would be interesting to see if the hub is 2wd or a 4x4 hub missing the halfshaft.

All that is really inconsequential thought. The RPO code list and VIN will tell the tale.

On the inside of the glove box lid. Yes I see the bulge now.

Someone must have yanked the 4x4 stuff out. Those wheel are from a 2wd like everyone has said. And like was mentioned, they stick out too wide from the body, indicating it was once a 4x4. Not only that the 4x4s use torsion bars and 2wd s10s use coil springs. Was there a t-tcase behind the tranny? Like everyone is saying though. list off the vin. i can pull the rpo codes off the vin.

Kind of off topic, but i know the last year or so of production gm produced zr2 2wd drive models. I know the blazers for sure. Anyone seen one or know if they used a modified coil spring and mounting brackets or used torsion bars and just left out all the 4x4 parts? hate to put my foot in my mouth saying all the 2wds used coil springs.

i bet it was once a 4x4, no way gm would sell it with the tires sticking out like that,, and the 2wd zr2 blazers had torsion bars

Do you have any links or photos of those 2wd blazers. I know they made them but, have never seen any info on it.

What do the front spindles look like? 2wd or 4wd with a hole in the middle?

Those are the early 2nd gen 2wd wheels. Probably '94-'96ish

He said that the roads are so bad in Brazil that all the 2wd s10s are 4x4 based for extra ground clearance.
