truck seems to be running less and less volts used to run about 14.5 to 14 now runs 12.5 -13.5, think i need a bigger one too i have a bass tube and run a snow plow in winter and a more powerful alt would help you can see my gauge drop when i raise or lower plow by winch... i need on that is plug and play what should i get? where? how hard is it to change alt?

A junk yard AD244 from an early suburban with the HO alternator is the answer.

Where to get an Ad244 besides a junk yard? I need to get a new alt more powerful than stock one, how can i test the stoc one? how many amps should it push? I want something that i can just bolt on plug and play.. I plan on buying a new one not rebuilt or anything.

Summit Racing sells new 200 amp AD244 alternators made by Tuff Stuff for $200-$250 depending on type of coating (chrome, black thermal, or natural aluminum). I have one in my 05 ZR2. They are direct bolt in, however you will need a 1" longer belt due to the increased case size.

Not really cheaper. NAPAonline shows it for $254 , my cost locally is $232 right now. Ten of them available.

Yes, that is the same one. You don't need to swap pulleys with this one and the factory harness plugs right in with no modifications needed. The price is better than anyone else when you consider that is has a black heat dispersent coating to reduce temps, requires no adapters, no pulley changes, benches well over 200 amps, and backed by Summit's excellent customer service. The only part you need is a 1" longer belt.

Just go into your local parts store and ask for one that is one inch longer than stock.

i plan to get the napa ho in next week i am hoping it will help my problem, when my snow plow is hooked up and truck is at idle, if i move the plow the volts drop real low to 11.8 to 12.5 and you can see truck lights blink will a new alternator help with this problem plan on getting 200 amp alt..

Probably. As long as it will deliver enough amperage at a given speed to meet or exceed the loads sensed.
