Has anyone here installed a "Backrack"? I purchased one for a decent price online. They seem to run pretty expensive especially the name brand. I found them for $199.95 shipped. I ordered it at 10pm on the 20th and have gotten it this morning (1/22) at 9:45am. Thats fast for an item over 60lbs, especially free shipping! The order was through Amazon.com. It is the back rack with the toolbox option. The original without the toolbox option is 179.95 also free shipping. I have yet to install but I found uses for that ranging from hooking my atv to it in the back of the truck and also protecting my rear window from loads of wood etc.

Product numbers are: 10312TB (with toolbox) and 10312 (no toolbox).

Some applications are, I would assume this is as we don't have the anchor holes.

4 holes drilled, nothing bad. The one without the toolbox may take less holes? Not sure. Installation however was easy, took about 1/2 an hour and that was getting it perfect and mounting the toolbox. There is a slight gap between the toolbox and the rack so the box is able to open. The box sits up higher allowing more room in the bed. I had the rack flush with the inner bed rail so it moves closer to the cab filling in the gap there slightly, it does not appear as though it will get close enough to hit unless I have severe frame flex. That looks pretty good. Nice to have a point to tie to up there. Pretty simple design. I like it.

Another note, the hardware is above and beyond heavy duty. I would not worry about this thing bending or breaking anytime soon. The bedrails would be the first things to buckle imo. I have seen plenty of weight on those before though, an example would be the Chevy long bed dually today with a trailer deck that was sitting across the bedrails that had two snowmobiles resting on top of that, that's a lot of weight. The included bolts are all grade 8 and overdone. My buddy with his Taco is already jealous .
