Transfer case fluid
I did a search and could not find this. I am wondering what kind of fluid do we use for the transfer case. Thanks

Um, should the 2 yr old recommendations be changed? That III might be getting harder to find.

Right now I would not use Dex six. Soon we will have no choice though.
I will be still looking for a Dex III compatible fluid as recommended.

blks10, now is the time for you to google (search) the topic and take a little time to research this. VI is fully synthetic and allegedly replaces all of the previous fluids and is a requirement for current GM rigs. HenryJ is not a fan of synthetic fluids and we will just let that sleeping dog lay undisturbed. Synthetic ATF has been known to create issues in older (your) auto trannys. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the transfer cases are relatively simple and either the III or the VI will work for you.HenryJ wrote:Dextron VI
I refuse to get into a debate here but, with research you will find some very nice alternatives with "some" wallyworld fluids. You will hear all about the expensive brands but, what you need to understand is what actually has been tested, meets or exceeds the requirements for your application. Many name brands give an elaborate song and dance and never answer the question.

Talked to the distributor today. No risk of losing Dextron III fluid. He says that they will supply it for the foreseeable future. They really are not dealing much of the Dextron VI. No bulk at all.
Very comforting to know that Dextron III fluid will be around for a long time to come.

That is good to know. I am dealing with full synthetics in the Jeep but, so far, so good but, my fingers are crossed.
