hissing heater control

my 2003 ZR5 has developed this annoying hissing noise in the dash somewhere around the heater control. It sounds like a vaccum leak, so i inspected the unit and found nothing wrong with it. ANY ideas would help

Welcome. I would check your transfercase switch first.

REALLY? I never thought of that because it changes pitch when you change the setting.
