I've noticed over the last month that my heater hasn't been working correctly. It just doesn't seem to have that burn your feet off heat that the S10s are known for. I just assumed it was due to the cold MN weather.
However, last night I had no heat at all. It would only blow frigid air. The thermostat says the truck is running at a normal temperature.
On a possibly related note, when accelerating the vehicle makes a sound like a not so soothing babbling brook. I'm wondering if that isn't a problem I should have had a shop check out long ago.
Is there any obvious things that I can check myself to possibly fix this problem?
Please help... I'm going to be bundled up in Carhartt gear until I can get this fixed.

Sounds like the death rattle of Dex-Cool orange coolant. You might just need to flush the crud out and get some heat back or if it's completely blocked you are looking at about a $1500 repair bill.

Are you running Dexcool (orange coolant)?
Are you using the stock radiator cap?

Just another possibility. Is your transfer case switch leaking atf into the heater/ac controls and other hoses? That could cause gurgling noises on acceleration and inoperative controls and blend doors also.
