Anyone using one of these boxes?
In my '98 extended cab I used a 46" WeatherGuard chest box. It fit nicely ahead of the wells and worked like a water tight trunk for groceries and everything. I miss it. With the bed on the CC, it will obviously not work, so I've been searching for an alternative. the way I fastened it was a half in ss bolt from under the bed that hit rear center of it and a wing nut inside. I would like to do the same with what ever I buy. Secure, clean, easy in and out. I found one made for mid-sized 4 door trucks from Delta. I like it despite the price, but I am concerned that with our factory bed liner, I may not be able to fasten it down tight to the cab like I did in my '98, based on dimensions and shape. Anyone using one of these? Does it fit tight to the bed floor and cab?

I guess it’s what you’re willing to accept. I had a Delta diamond plate box and it was a little flimsy and didn’t last very long on the jobsite. I went to Weather Guard and they are pretty much bullet proof and like you said they don’t leak at all. My Delta did leak. I think from what I had the Delta will be good if you are just using it on a POV, anything commercial and you are wasting your money.

I have a Delta diamond plate standard box so it sits really high. Great quality for my uses as its full 24/7 with stuff. Sometimes light snow does get in the box from flying around in the bed but I've never had a problem with moisture or anything. When I first got it I had to put some lubrication on the locks and hinges as they were dry since they didn't come with any lubrication from the factory. Overall great box, had it for about a year now with no complaints. It sits on top of the bed rails and you can still fit plywood in the bed between the wheel wells and box so its great if you need to carry things. Stuff also fits under it or on top so you don't lose much of your limited bed space.

I was hoping that the Delta 'Champion' series would be better constructed, I've seen what you mean by flimsy. Since I have the ZR5 package I didn't want to lose the rails, so the fact that it sits down inside the bed looked attractive. WeatherGuard does make the same chest I had in a 36", but at less than I think 6 ft. cubed, man how puny. Plus I think it's $120 bucks higher. Sigh!
Thanks for your input.

Used some extra cash from some scrap copper I picked up on a job, and finally bought the Delta Champion designed for 4 door mid-sized trucks. As I thought it doesn't measure up to my old WeatherGuard, but is not bad and actually fits the truck nicely with reasonable room inside. The factory poly bed liner is a problem, as I was afraid, so next batch of scrap copper will go toward a spray in liner, though I've no clue which brand is better, so I can slide the blasted thing up against the cab like it should be. All in all, I'm glad to have my trunk back!
Came up with a use for the Weatherguard. Found this and purchased it.

Bolted the Weatherguard chest to it, added some stop turn and tail lights in a surface mount LED version so people would see the thing and not run into it. Even against my white truck, a black box hanging out 22 inches doesn't stand out at first glance. Just need to find a license plate frame I am happy with, maybe some side mount reflectors to add to the visibility of it. I've never cared for the hitch haul style carriers, but with my old box mounted to this frame, it looks extremely useful when a hunting trip comes up and the size of our beds again becomes painfully apparent. I will take some picks when I get the chance and post em.
If anyone has an opinion on LinEx vs. Rhino etc. etc., when it comes to spray on bed liners, feel free to share. Thanks.

LineX is the most expensive but by far superior. If you have the cash to dish out thats the one to get. I got it and love it. I have seen the Rhino Liners on trucks before and you could scrape it off. LineX will not come off and if it does they're more than happy to put it back on for you. The only thing that I have seen not covered by warranty and that did take the liner off was a snowmachine, the carbide runners cut into it but I think carbide was going to cut into anything you put on there If the LineX is good enough for the walls of the Pentagon it should be good enough for the bed of your truck! Plus you could always get it color matched if you wanted.

Is this "LineX something available in small spray quantities or only at a body shop or what? I was thinking if I could get color-match for my CC I might want to spray it on as a rock/sand abrasion guard around the bottom of the truck to prevent blasting away of the paint there. (was there)

Well you get LineX done at a distributor, it isn't something you can apply yourself as they use special spray equipment and whatnot. You can get it sprayed anywhere you would like though they'll just charge you more for it. You can go and get an estimate from the local shop though that does it. It will last longer than your truck trust me.
