Replaced the tranny last year b/c the "Sun Gear" fragmented. Then had a grinding sound from the drive train when coming off the gas on the interstate (like coming up on a slower car and take foot off gas...."rumble"). Up on a lift, the whole axle shook like hell on decel from 55mph and there was play at the drive shaft/diff. Opened it up and the gears and ALL the bearings looked fine. Replaced them anyway and the collar, etc....
Everything great for a week, then the rear end went spectacularly on the interstate with no warning. First a loud bam/pinging! for a minute, then the roar of the gears chewing themselves up.
I need a new rear end. Anyone make a swap and have a GU6 with 3.42 gear ratio available?
