Just had my lower intake gasket replaced under warrenty

Post by Jim »

Last Sunday it sat in my driveway all day, I went out to go to work Monday and found a big spot of Dex on the driveway.

I made an appointment for Tuesday and dropped it off Monday night hoping it leaked for them.

They called me 2:00 Tuesday and said it was the lower intake gasket as I suspected and it was replaced and ready to be picked up :D

I consider myself lucky since it leaked for them and I only have 850 miles and one month left on the extended warranty.

Way to go, Jim! Don't forget that if, you report a problem before the warranty expires and they are unable to find or fix the problem it, will be covered. There is also a "goodwill" warranty if, you recently had you warranty expire and the service manager hasn't gone over his limit for a particular month.

I had that same exact issue with mine, just not as bad a leak, however no warranty. Maybe common problem? who knows. Glad you got yours fixed for nothing though!

Hopefully they used the newer GM intake gaskets that don't get eaten by Dex-Cool if you are still using that stuff.

Might be a good time to switch to green!

Will definitely go green this spring.
I'll use a little B&G cleaner then some nice new green.
before the heater core goes.
I drive 2.5 miles to work every day not good for longevity of anything

They didn't change the oil when they did this job. They changed oil when they did my daughters Bravada but it had green in it. I assume dex doesn't kill bearings like green. I changed the oil yesterday I had put about 200 miles on it I know there wasn't much dex in the oil but the residue on the inside of the oil fill cap was dex.
