Hey guys. This is kind of a stupid question but how would I go about hauling a kayak in our trucks, I dont have a ZR5 so I dont have the roof racks. Our beds are like what 54"? My kayak is 108"(9 foot). Should I go out and buy some roof racks? I have no ideal how to go about this, I dont use it that much, the most I would drive with it is 30 miles but its highway.
Thanks

Mine did not come with a roof rack. Several have added them. There are a couple good threads on cutting them down to fit and the installation.
A contractors rack would be another option. (Baywatch)

You could (if you're good with a bandsaw, shapers, and sanders), cut a couple of battens that fit crosswise on the roof (custom cut for the kayak on the top, and the roof shape on the bottom, and covered with carpet on the bottom. get the hold downs for a aftermarket roofrack and modify to work with battens.

Use cam straps on front and back (2 each).
Or find a roofrack that would work on a CC.

A set of those just sold in the Expeditionportal.com Forum classifieds. Seems like they went for $50 shipped?
The Thule mounts went for $80 shipped.
Worth a search on that forum for stuff like that. There are plenty of those guys that use that type of stuff.

I purchased the "extend-a-truck" for my crew. Works great for kayaks or canoes. Also good for hauling lumber, sheetrock or what ever.
