Rancho RS 5000's

Post by ZIGGY K »

Installed rancho's on front with shaft side down , weld side up. I also installed boot that the instructions said not to. My question is- the boot massages the cv boot just slightly. there is play between both boots. Does anyone think this is a problem? :?:

You will probably be just fine. My old S-10 did the same thing. I had a polished section on the CV boot and a hole rubbed in the shock boot. Eventually the shock boots had to be removed. Then the shocks replaced. The replacements don't have a boot.

does the life of the shock suffer by having the shafts exposed w/o the boot ?

nope, the boot is suposed to protect the shaft, but with my short experience with them, and friends who have run them for a while, the boot actually hods in moisture and rusts the shaft...if the cartrige side is down
