Tailgate Handle Relocator Kit - #1188500

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
TAILGATE HANDLE RELOCATOR
94-UP GM S-SERIES PICK-UP
PART# 1188500

For best results, please read all instructions thoroughly prior to attempting installation of your SIR MICHAEL S tailgate handle relocater. SIR MICHAEL S recommends the use of approved hand, eye and ear safety equipment while performing this installation. If you have any questions concerning the installation of your SIR MICHAEL S tailgate handle relocater please contact our customer service department at (714) 379-6800, Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

NOTE: Any part that is modified and/or painted are non returnable.

Remove the tailgate from the truck and place face up on sawhorses or workbench.

Remove the plastic trim that fits around the handle.

Turn the tailgate over, remove the handle and the end latches.

Now place the template over the factory bolt holes and line up the top of the template with the top of the tailgate, trace out the dotted line area. This is the area that needs to be cutout by using a die grinder with a cutting die or a jigsaw. If you use a jigsaw make sure you drill a 5/16" starting hole in each corner.

Now your ready to install your relocater kit. Bolt in the handle using only two bolts and the Cinch Stud for the rear bolt (IF YOU USE FACTORY BOLT IN REAR HOLE IT WILL DENT OUTSIDE OF THE TAILGATE).

Before you install the end latches you must switch the rods from one latch to the other, and make sure the end of the rods that snap into the handle is facing down.

Now install the relocater kit into the back of the tailgate. Using you fingers snap the rods into the handle, now drill the four mounting holes with a 1/8î drill bit and screw the relocater kit into place. Test the handle to make sure it works freely.

The SIR MICHAEL S handle relocater kit provides a filler plate that can be welded into place, or you can purchase a 3rd brake light kit that takes the place of the filler plate, call for more details.

Pop n' lock works great and was an easy install. It's not the sturdiest, but at least it is a first line detterant.
