WHICH Wheel Spacers and dealer recomendations
OK, let the fun begin. I think I'll put spacers on the 2003 ZR5. Front and back for improved cornering. Want it to look good too. I hear that the front wheels are wider together than the rear. With this in mind, what are people recomending, and where are they ordering from. Maybe 1.75" in rear and 1.25 or 1.00 in f ront?
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks,
Tom
Well...anything less than 1.5" (I think) and you'll have to trim the studs.
I've got 2" spacers on each side in the rear of mine and appearance-wise it looks almost the same front and rear (because the rear fenders are flared a little compared to the front), but the rear track is about 1" wider than the front now.
I'd recommend new wheels with less backspacing than the stock wheels over the spacers I think.

if you push your rims and tires out, then stay with 29" or 28" tires. cuz the further you push them out, the more chances of rubbing that you'll have.
you have 15x7 with 6" of bs right now.
if you get some new rims, most of them come with only 3 to 4" of bs. and if you get 15x8...all in all, that could be 3" out on either side. then just put some 1.5 or 1.75" spacers on the rear to make it line up with the front...

I have 1.3" on my rear with stock rims and I think they look great. There is a GP thread on here and I got them from there, the guy cut me a nice deal including shipping and the nuts, the Gauge Store or something like that.

I just put 1.75" spacers on the rear this weekend. Roughly $186 delivered with 10 acorn lugs from Performance, online. I got a better feeling from their information than I did from AIM.
The studs on them are the same 12mmx1.5 as factory. Keep in mind that the simple acorn lugs take a larger socket (22mm) than the factory lugs. The factory lugs are stepped down to allow screwing on those silly black caps for exposed use. Since the factory wheels cover them with the wheel center, I may buy 20 of the standard acorns and convert all of them to the larger socket size. Also, you have to use a thin-wall socket to install the spacer lugs. Performance left as much aluminum as possible when machining them. An impact socket won't fit in the hole, and I doubt a typical + shaped lug wrench would either. But, once installed they never need to come off unless you are doing brake disk or axle work.
I did notice that these have about 50% more metal thickness at the lug seat than the factory wheels do. The factory wheels are surprisingly very THIN down there.

Re: spacers
www.performancewheel.com And check out www.safetyspacers.com They have cool video there regarding rollover resistance when using the spacers. Also I just added a closeup picture of my spacers to my photo link below.snowsurfer wrote:Know the contact name, site address for Pervormance?
