4x4 Vinyl Decals

Post by NTXCrew »

I know John (with the white Chevy) from the member pages has a set of decals from a HD on his bedside and I like the look. I absolutely hate when people put Z71 on vechicle that really aren't so I'm not about to use ZR2 or ZR5 stickers. decalking.com has a vinyl set of 4x4's that look like the HD's for $30.00. I just saw a black reg cab S-10 4x4 with some and it looked nice. Has anyone messed with these before?

The letters Z85 can be used with our Crew Cabs that's the suspension RPO#. Any vinyl sign shop can make them up. If you want shadows use 2 different colored letters on top of each other. I dislike imposters too.

What's really pathetic is the ZR2 stickers on those little Tracker P.O.S.'s. I mean get real. The Tracker (and the rest of the mini SUV's) is about as off road worthy as a golf cart.

Uh, yeah. I kinda forgot about that thing. I saw the pictures on "Chuck's Trucks" website and figured that was just the thing my father in law needed. I sorta went off a little bit on the little SUV's. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Chucks trucks is doing your work? He's well known in the Isuzu groups cause he built a few Isuzu Monster pickups.

Ok, stupid question time:

What exactly does "4x4x4" mean? I understand the 4x4 part (Duh!) but what is the extra "x4" about? I've seen it on Bigfoot and seen it tossed around but never figured it out.

I dunno, but it might have something to do with locked axles front and rear?

Most "4x4's" spin one front and one rear.

Hmmm, that's a thought. I wondered in the case of Bigfoot if was because it was 4 times bigger than a regular 4x4 or something like that.

I'll bet that's it. I forgot about the 4 wheel steering.

What about decals? Quality issues...ease of install...that kind of thing? And were did you see a ZR2 Tracker? I have another horror story: a couple of years ago I was in San Antonio and saw an obviously 2wd Chevy stepside with very street oriented tires (like a Goodyear HP) and they had a homemade off-road sticker on it- only they messed up and didn't have a Z71, but Z72!!! People like that should be driving Ford.

Sorry, I do tend to get off the subject a lot. I've actually seen several ZR2 Trackers running around Northern Virginia. Other than the decals and a few other tape graphics, they look just like a standard one to me. My guess is it's some kind of dealer add-on thing. Might have something different with the trim on the interior or something like that. I've seen dealers do that kind of thing before. They make their own "special version" as a sales gimmick to sell more cars.

I got the new style GM "4x4" decals from decalking. Install was easy...just make sure they're lined up right and even on each side. They even came with a squeegee to smooth them onto the fender. Good quality pieces and they're holding up well in the AZ sun too.

Edit - Not very good pics, but click here and here for pics of my truck with the stickers on.

stickers

Post by amxguy1970 »

on our yellow gmc, we put ZR2 4x4, instead of the ZR2 off road like what comes on the real ZR2. the reason we did this is because there was not a damn thing on the side of that truck when we got it, not even a emblem or molding. so we also put on a sonoma emblem just like in the rear but instead on the two front doors. it gives the side of the truck a little more character, but it is still kinda boring. it sure could use a moding or something. and why not put a 4x4 decal on there? cause we see those EVERYWHERE, especialy fords and dodges, so since it looked cool and sounded good, we put it on there but changed it up a little bit. should we have put Z71 on there instead? and i also want to know about that flipping the leaf springs over the axel instead of under. what else needs to be done to do that? and what about having to lift the front if needed?and info would be appreciated. :thumb:

I went with the factory late model decal. My buddy has a white 3/4 ton that looked sharp, so I took his VIN to the dealer and ordered the same thing. Hopefully this link will work for you. There are some pix of it there.

I think they were $9 or $10 a piece. I don't have the receipt. I went to the nearest dealer who was Chevy. They were not very helpful. Said they could not look them up by generic year and model. They claimed they came in different colors (though I have neven seen any differences) and HAD to have a VIN number to order. My buddy's 2000 white 3/4 ton has the decals, so I used his VIN to order mine.

Yeah, they are gettin' to be a pain with that VIN number nonsense. It works great if you are replacing stuff that your truck originally came with but if you are modifying anything with "non stock" parts, good @#%& luck!

Mine were $30 per pair from http://www.decalking.com/index.html

That included a soft plastic squeegee for install and some other stuff too I think.

Thanks for info! My father in-law has a '95 Silverado, wonder what the 4X4 stickers looked like back then. Otherwise, I'll just have to pick one off of a windshield in a parking lot 8)

For any wondering what a ZR2 Tracker is just visit this website http://www.chevrolet.com/tracker/index.html. By the way my wife has a 2002 four door tracker and I would take anywhere that my 2003 S10 crew could go.

STICKERS WOULD BE NICE, ANYONE WHO RIDES IN MY TRUCK IS SURPRISED WHEN THEY FIND OUT ITS A 4X4. ITS NOT LIFTED YET, AND IT IS A LITTLE LOW FOR A 4X. WITH A LIFT AND SOME STICKS IT WILL BE A LITTLE MORE OBVIOUS. :?

Just find a big dealership near you and see what they have on the lot. There's bound to be a red one with the 4x4 or the Z71 sticker (both of which have red and silver in them) so you can get an idea.
