Throttle Lag

Post by JG03QUADCAB »

I have a 2003 4.3l Quad Cab and I am having troulble with Throttle Lag. Each time I hit the gas it seems like the truck delays for a second. The tuck iis not accelerating like it should. Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with the truck? Thanks

 Welcome

Have you gone through the simple stuff?

Make sure the basics are in good shape. Fuel system and Ignition system.

Check the Air cleaner, fuel filter, fuel pressure, cap, rotor, plugs, wires. Clean the throttle body, egr valve, and intake air control valves.

Once all that is in good order if the problem persists then we can go further.

During my last oil change I changed the oil filter, air filter and flushed the fuel injectors. My truck has about 64k miles. I have not changed the fuel filter, cap rotor, plugs or wires. What plugs or wires would you recommend?

Ding, ding, ding!!!

Change your fuel filter, but before you do that run some seafoam in your gas tank.

There are several good threads on the subject. I am currently testing the Autolite Irridium plugs. I can't say how they will perform yet. The Spark Plug thread has lots of good ideas.
For wires I have been using Taylor SpiroPro. Again there are many choices and the Plug Wires thread should offer some more opinions.
