Solid Front Axle
I was thinking about putting a solid front axle on my crew cab this summer. has anyone ever done this? or has anyone looked at doing this? let me here some input.

If you have a very patient wife and lots of patience yourself, it's definitely doable, but I didn't have ether, cause of being too busy with regular life, but I had a guy just north of Richmod do mine and am very, very happy with it. I had him do way more than I was going to have him do, but he had so many great ideas, I kinda just went with it for the most part. Check out my link. your truck is sweet. thats awesome pic. that makes me wanna get the solid front axle in my crew cab asap. how much does that guy charge to do work?

He is resonable for his skill level. And that's the most difficult to find is "skill level". It depends what you wanna have done, but still you will need patience after it's done for tweeking it like you like it. Cause everyone's taste is different. But before calling, do allot of research, it helps to know exactly what you want before you start. I pretty much had my whole drive train planned out in my head, at least the hardware part, cause any delays in planning and designing usually costs money. Like, I knew I wanted D44's, detroit rear, arb front, leafs, spring over in front, track-bar, and anti-sway bar, although I didn't work out the sway bar install and drove it about a year without one till i found one in a junk yard for $20, and painted it up. Now it's "just right". So, don't go into it looking for perfection right out of the shop. Maybe that's just how I look at it, cause I'm always looking to make everything perfect. lol

Like quickbiker said, youre gonna do a lot of tweaking and stuff. I got mine back and a week later it was back in the shop to get the knuckles cut and turned.
Now I got a hi-lift lok-racked into the roof rack and rock crusher diff covers installed.
still got skidz flares to put on and 37's that I gotta order.
Once I get the $$$ its gonna go back under the knife for f/r bumpers, winch, spare tire carrier install. next up grade is gonna be 9-60 hybrid front axle, 60 rear. then linked f/r. then.....you get the idea. youre never gonna be done once you start.
BUT, the more research you do the more likely you are to get what you want the first time and save a TON of money. or you can do it bit by bit as you can afford stuff. mine took nearly 3 years of internet research and about 3 months of emailing w/ the shop before she went in.
the shop does make a HUGE difference too. the guy I went to competes in WEROC and other places. does a TON of custom stuff, from restoration to drift cars to extreme 4x4's.

oh yeah, i have to admit that quickbiker and warnoffroad were huge contributors to my SAS. Im lovin quickies rear bumper/tire carrier. I wanted something like that but am trying to figure out a way to do it and not copy his.
