Well I guess many of these trucks will be changing hands in the next couple of years but a FORD! Not that I would replace mine with another Chevy right now.

Stripping my mods is enough incentive to make me hang on to mine for a long time. It would take weeks in warm weather
We'll never get anything for the mods in trade in value so, all that will be left on mine is the BL, tint and the Skidz Flares.
Some upcoming H.S. S-10 kids will have a good chance at some good deals a few yrs down the road.
In all seriousness, Top_Sgt (David) I am sure you got a good deal and if, you need help with a BL or anything and exhibit the the same hospitality that you did on your CC's BL..........I'll be there to help.

reed, brother, if this helps your arguement any more, i had to drive my crew cab into the woods to pull out my bronco last weekend, i bought the Ford Bronco with intentions of not driving the crew offroad anymore except if someone needed help or at the hunting camp, but i had to rely on the GMC to go get the mighty beast out of the woods,
PS i was gonna make another thread but i thought it fit here pretty good so here it is
PSS i miss talking to you guys but really have nothing to add, i still read up now and then but have nothing to add, sorry

Fords have a problem with the egr passages clogging. You will have to remove the throttle body to manifold adapter to clean this passage. It fills with carbon and creates some real problems later in life.
You might look into aftermarket tie rod ends. Those "lifetime lubricated" ball joints have been a real problem. Especially for those that see water from time to time. Using a needle to puncture the boot and add lubricant may help prolong the life.
If you still have the exhaust that exits in front of the right rear tire, consider relocation. The heat transfered to the wheel seems to be leading to premature bearing failures. That wheel gets so hot you can't touch it
If you thought the #3 plug was bad on the s-series, wait until you spend half a day trying to change the plugs on one of these engines I'll take the s-series any day
Every vehicle has short comings. I wish you well and happiness with your new vehicle.

If, Top/David didn't have so many "irons in the fire" he would have dissected our CCs. He was thinking of regearing in '05 and I volunteered to help so, that I might just catch a little of the run off of his expertise in the process. I couldn't think of a better teacher in my locale.
Maybe, our Louisville member will need help one day
Don't feel ashamed to ask for some gophering help on that POS Ford, David

I don't know if Fords EGR system is way over engineered like the GM system is, but I would be tempted to head off that passage plugging problem with a mod.
Get a couple EGR valve to adapter gaskets and cut a piece of tin to match. Drill a 1/8" hole for the gasses and see if it sets a light. I would be willing to bet it will not.
This may help some partial throttle response, and will definitely slow down the flow and some of the carbon build-up.
I have done this on the GM full size 1999-up with good results.
The bad thing is that little hole may carbon up. That may not be a problem though since the venturi effect speeds the passage and may keep it clear. At the very least it would be much easier to clean.
Since the wife's truck is a 4x4, what about dropping that ford a couple inches and smoothing things out? Shave an emblem or three, paint match handles, grille, and maybe some custom wheels with a nice low profile tire

The plugs on that 5.4 will be a pricey change once needed also...they're around $19 ea...and hopefully the metal sleeve around the base of them won't get out of position or warped either because it's a PITA to remove if they do...and that info came from one of my senior master techs at the dealership.
In case you didn't know or didn't read the message several months ago, I'm a service advisor at a Ford dealership, so if you have any questions or need any inside info, let me know.
One other thing...you'll want to consider either getting dust shields for those front rims or plan on cleaning them every other week. F150's have a really bad problem with brake dust on the front rims. I've seen ones a month old where the rims are almost a graphite color.
And what's so bad about a Dodge anyway?
