Quick Air Deflators

Post by Walt »

A friend of mine picked up some Quick Air Tire Deflators the other day, and bought a second set and just gave them to me. Has anyone ever used them? I'm planning to try them out soon. It'll be wonderful not to have to squat down for 10 minutes at each tire now to lower pressure. :) I'll post a review after I try them out.

Here's a pic.

EDIT: First pic was wrong, this is the right one.

He also found three Superflow MV50's at a good price and gave me one of those :D Did I mention he's my best friend?

I'll ask him :)

I just realized that these deflators don't deflate to a preset level, they just keep deflating until you stop them. But I can use an air pressure guage on them while they're deflating. Still, I'm not complaining :D

Time one from start to finish pressures and you can do all four at the same time providing you can install and remove at the same pace.

Good idea. :) I aired down to 15 PSI front and rear Tuesday night to go down to my father-in-law's lake to take some folks fishing, and the truck rode like a caddy. The only problem was that I had to sit there for several minutes deflating each tire with the pressure guage.

Then I had to go to the local gas station to be able to air them all up the next day without taking 2 hours, and had to put money in the air machine twice, so I'm excited about the compressor too. :D

I use my winch quick connects , front and rear to attach the compressor. No opening the hood and I don't have to stretch from one point.

If you are going to do much of this, it might be a good idea to invest in some of the NoLoss Tethered Tire Valve Stem Caps.

Here are the nicer ones that I'm more familiar with. :D Most of the 4wd drive clubs around here use these. Both can be bought on E-Bay!

I had thought about using my Winch connector. I still have it run to the bottom of the tow hook hole in the valance in the front. I use it to hook up my warn booster cables.

Steve, I've looked at both of those before and the Staun seems the most popular. Would be nice to set them to a pressure level and forget them for a little while until it's time to go. One company makes deflators that require a hole drilled into the rim for the deflator....those will deflate a 33x12.5" tire in a little over a minute.

Brule, I'm usually pretty good about putting the caps back on, but I may end having to get those new caps. I've never aired down much at all, but now that I can do it, and air back up in a reasonable amount of time, and with little effort, I'll probably do it more often. :)

Nice burn :?

Personally, I think the free ones are pretty nice.

I use the quick air deflators every time I go wheeling

they take a little bit longer but they beat using a key by 50x

you eventually learn to trust them more and can put all 4 on at one time then you kinda know when they are getting close

the only bad part about them are they crossthread onto eachother really really easy. I just crossthreaded one of mine a couple weeks ago so now I just carry 3 of them

I've heard that the Oasis brand deflators have one feature the Stauns don't, which is being able to leave them on the tire while driving. That would be neat.
