Well I finally got and installed the Roadmaster suspension kit in the crew today.
Took about 5 hours with basic hand tools. With impact wrench you could do it in under 3 I would think. I took off the helper spring and shackle clamp that I had installed and replaced with this system, I had it on my 95 Blazer and liked the ride quality with it on. Went from 31.5 inch from ground to flare lip to 33 inches after installation. Here is the final look without a body lift just the Roadmaster system in the rear and the t-bar adjustment in the front.

Nice, I'm going to look into that for my crew. The cap adds some weight, and that might help raze the rear of my truck. Thanks for the post.

Just to give you an idea, in the bed of my truck is 80lbs of rock salt, apx 50lbs for the tool box and it also has a full tank of gas. I think it will certainly help keep your rear up with the cap. The nice thing about this system is that it is progressive, the more you add to the back the more it reacts to the load, it also helps wheel hop and axle wrap.

What did the kit cost? Where did you get it?
I like the fact that it is not a hinderance to ground clearance.
It sure seems like it would be a little more progressive than the leaf helpers. That would probably offer some better empty ride characteristics.
Would it attach to the front to better assist with spring wrap?

Thanks f9k9, the wheels are american racing wheels that I got on my 84 Jimmy when I bought it. They are about the only thing I had left after it was wrecked, that and the original fender flairs which I had off for body work. They are great for my winter wheels. The taillight guards came from stylin concepts.

I got the kit from JC Whitney but it is also avalible from summit racing. Kit run $219.99 but I had a 15% off coupon for the order so it ended up at around $186 plus shipping which was less than $30 for my whole order which included the Rancho steering stabilizer kit.

Wanted to share with everyone...
I installed my Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS) 2 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. Combined with a Bilstein shock upgrade it's a different truck in every category. Sudden high speed turns (no body roll or plowing) reduced axle wrap, increased pay load, (and it rides better with more weight). Ride height increased 1.5+ inches, it holds the road better with heavy trailer loads.
I haven't tried it off road yet, but this is the best money I have ever spent on a vehicle upgrade.

Welcome to the club. I have had the Roadmaster in 2 vehicles now and couldn't be happier. I also added the rear stabilizer bar with Rancho RSX shocks and can make corners no stock s-10 should even dream of.

Great to hear someone can enjoy the benefits of RAS. I also ordered a Hellwig 7/8" sway bar. The directions are a joke, and I know it won't be a pro off road. But I carry a couple hundred pounds of kayaks on the roof, I'm sure it will be very helpful in high winds. Did you have to relocate any of your brake lines? The thread on this site shows to mod with a GM sway bar, I'm sure a little easier to install.

Only thing I had to do was unhook the tailpipe rear hanger the tailpipe hit the mounting bolt and I just needed about 1/2 inch to clear.

I wonder how this kit compares to the boise spring kit as far as towing is concerned.

Not really sure. The BSW kit would seem to be more likely to be a stiffer ride since the springs are part of the leaf pack. The RoadMaster system is supposed to be progressive and will work harder as needed. Since I have no one around here with the other kit I can't do a head to head test. I know that I can stand on the rear bumper with my regular load in the bed apx. 400-450lbs and the back sinks about 1/2-1 inch at most. It is much more stable in the wind but I also have the Helwig rear anti-sway bar.
