Ready for winter (tires)
All fluids have been changed, new brakes all around and put on my new tires today. I went with a Cooper ATR LT 235/75/R15. It has a nice tread pattern for the snow and it handles very well with no road noise. I hated the tires that where on my truck when I bought it and couldn't wait to wear them out. The Cooper tires even though are the same size tire are a full 1 1/2 inch taller than what I had on my crew. There almost a 29 at 28.90.

Coopers are a great choice. I have run the weathermaster ST/ST2's on 2 cars, 1 GMC Jimmy, 1 Blazer and now my ZR-5 and Discoverer AT's on my Blazer and I love them. I really wish they would have let me keep my Discoverer's when I traded the Blazer for the ZR-5 The Stock Wranglers are dogs in comparison and I can't wait to replace them.
What kind of winter weather do you see there?

I wanted the Discoverer A/T but I'm told that they don't make em anymore even though they are still listed on their web site. My tire dealer told me they may be back in the spring but I needed em now. Winters here can be anything from nothing to 2 feet of snow, the local plow crews do a great job on the roads around here but my driveway is 200 feet long and I travel to PA often and they don't plow anything there.

Were they winter tread or all season? I have run Weathermasters w/ studs year round on one car for nearly 30000 mi but cooper does make a couple of " economy" tires that are rated for that short a tread life

I expect to wake up to an accumulation of snow every morning at this point.
My way of thinking is if I can drive over it I don't have to shovel it, so I am all set up to about 3 feet of powder

Cooper rates this tire at 50000 miles and from what I have read it has a good wear rating. Better than a lot of tires that I looked at.

I liked my AT,s but I only had them for about 20,000 mi when I traded the Blazer in. They still looked and performed like new but I never really pushed them. Max of 70mph and mostly 40-50mph daily driving no real offroading just a little 2-track.

I like the fact that since Coopers aren't as well known they tend to be cheaper and the quality is fantastic. I run the ST/2's with studs and never fear any winter conditions.

I'm thinking of these to replace my Wranglers in the spring.
Discoverer LT 31X10.50R15LT if I can get them to fit.

I almost got those but I thought the road noise would be a little more than I wanted. I have to stay on the family side a little. Maybe when I find the 2 door S-10 I want for our 3rd vehicle I will go with the Discoverer LT.

I solve all road noise the same way. two or three clicks to the right on the stereo volume knob usually does the trick
