Wheeling with my CC, wondered if we would make it!

This past week my wife and son and I were visiting friends at there camp in the Adk. mtns. Saw this interesting road, no postings on it, looked it up on the topo. of ther area, 1-1/2 miles in then posted property then back out. Told our friends where we were going showed them the map and my son and there son took off. Well this road, it had just rained for the previous 24 hrs. was in badddd shape up and down like big mogols on a ski slope and at the bottom... a mudhole the few flat spots had mud/water sections also some longer than the truck, my son said that 1 was up over the door sills, I didn't look to the side just kept going feeling my along and playing the power so as not to bog down or spin to much. A couple of times I though we had the meat but we kept on going, felt the skid's contact something numerous times, no rocks here though some rotted logs and grass humps. anyway some of the holes at the bottom of the "mogols" were pretty deep also one came over the hood as we went in then out we came like a water buffalo! The boy's said there must have been 30 or so of these we went through, I was not counting. Turned around at the posted property and back the same way. Our friends son said that his pulse increased a bit and my boy said he didn't think we were going to make it a couple of times an would have to jack and come-along ourselvs out. We did however and I must say that this little CC has big b---- so far as I am concerned, glad I had decent tires and the skid plates, and the tools to recover if necessary. Time spent about 1-1/2 hrs. on the trail, inspecting the truck later revealed no damage underneath or topsides after I came from the carwash $30, and well worth it great adventure even if it was short. Sounds like you kept your head

There is a very fine line between "easing" through obstacles and seeing a questionable one and going through it "hammer down" without stopping and getting out to inspect it.

Nothing sissy with stopping, getting out, grabbing a stick to see if a mudhole has a bottom

Also, is nice to know if the bottom is soft or solid.

I remarried in '01 and my wife is big into landscaping (I was big into killing grass to keep from mowing before I married) and we went "creek rock" shopping for her majestic landscape plans.

I know a lot of areas off road areas in my county and several others nearby. I took her down one that appeared to be terrible. What she didn't know was that I knew it was an old strip mine haul road and despite water holes from hades, it had a solid base that supported heavy equipment decades ago.

Well, when I decided no landscaping rocks were available off the road I turned around in a mudhole. I bet it was 6 weeks when the bruises she left on my thigh went away. She never realized she did it but, apparently she thought we were gonna get stuck and never be heard from again. Bottom was solid and I never was concerned
