exhaust, what to use?

Ok.......
I just finished installing an Airaid intake on the venerable CC, now i'm thinking about the other end, in the quest of a tad more preformance etc. What suggestions do you guy's have? Cost?, ease of installation, brand?, and so on. Would sure appreciate any and all opinions. be safe, mjmcdowell

where in NY are you located? I went to Albany and had a custom shop install a XLerator dual exhaust on and it sounds good and has plenty of free flow

I installed a Magnaflow cat-back system on my truck and I really like it. It's fairly quiet below 3000rpm, but gets nice and loud above.

It was easy to install, however they did not send me a new exhaust gasket or the bolts for the flange to the catalytic converter. Don't know if they forgot to put them in or if theyre not included.

The stock system isnt that hard to get out, and doesnt require any cutting to remove. All I had to do was jack up the right rear of the truck to unload the suspension all the way, unbolt the old system, take the rubbers off, and slide the old system out under the front of the truck. Installation is about as easy.

I paid $400 shipped for my magnaflow system.

And it does make a difference on performance, if only slightly. 0-60 times before and after

I guess we need to know your preferences. If you are desiring a better sound then my advice will not help you at all.

Our converters are free flowing compared to yesteryear. Eliminating them will not help much.

Best performance for the 4.3L with an exhausrt modification is single 2.5 to 3 inch catback system.

Several of us chose the Delta Flowmaster 40 mufffler with the local install option fir under $200.

If you would like the duals for appearances or for what ever your reason, then I suggest you research the other S Series forums and listen to their sound clips.

What is the noise level now with that system?

I have a three-inch catback system with a Deltaflow 40 muffler and a 4 inch tip (straight tip) and I am happy with the result. It has a nice deep growl, sounds nice at idle and looks really good. My only complaint would be that it isn't terribly loud at all (which does have it's merit at times). I recently took a road trip about 1700 miles and no one made any complaints about the sound of my exhaust...in fact at highway speeds you can't even hear it (and I mean that absolutely literally)..I forgot I even had it until we slowed down. It has a great deep sound that I love...I just thought it was going to be a bit louder...but I am happy with it.

Where did you get this installed and how much? Is this something that you can get done at some place like Midas?

I had the local Denny's Muffler shop do it (I don't know if Denny's is nationwide, but they are like a Midas, etc.). They charged me like $80 for the muffler, $50 for the tip and like $65 for other parts (pipes) and labor...total was just under $200 out the door. (I still wished it was a little louder though).

That's not bad for under $200. Can you tell a difference in performance or does it just sound and look better?

I also have the flowmaster deltaflow with 2.5 inch custom pipes, with the chrome tip.

You will definitly notice a difference in performance. It's got a nice low rumble when you first start your truck, but you really don't notice it too much going down the highway, this is what my local muffler shop advised me to go with. My cost $315 but you got to remember things are a little more expensive out here in So Cal. My 18 year old daughter's boyfriend said, "man that sounds like a truck now! That sounds mean!"
