Doh, I forgot about Vortech1337vending wrote:I'm not sure, but do Pro-Charger and Paxton make superchargers for the 01-03 4.3 v6? The only other bolt-on supercharger I'm aware of is the one from Vortech, and it only fits 96-00 S10s. Please correct me if I'm wrong...the one you find might be 50 state legal
This is true. Everything is very tight on the CC's. This might mean a custom install. The only problem with running an external intercooler with the 4.3 v6 is that it would be a huge pain to route the intake plumbing.
Your Dad has a Typhoon and a Grand National! My dad has a 1992 Typhoon, which comes factory with an air-to-water intercooler, and the ducting to get to the intercooler and back to the turbo is fairly complex. That truck runs 15psi of boost and pretty much blows most other cars away at the stoplight...5.09 seconds to 60 measured with his accelerometer![]()
My dad's 85 Buick Grand national also runs 15 psi of boost without an intercooler, but that's because the compression ratio is fairly low. (~8.25:1) IIRC.
It is 9.2:1 and yes it can handle 7 psi, but that is alot for the amount of power you are getting compared to an intercooled design.I can't remember what the compression ratio on our trucks are, but I think its below 10 or 9.5:1. If so, I think the 4.3 could handle 7 psi of boost with proper computer reflashing.
It is actually very common on F-body's and B-body's with the Powerdyne setup. Maybe the V-6 version will last a little longer because they are nowhere near as powerful.I haven't heard about the bearing problems at 35-50k miles though =/...
ya, about 7to10 grand if you do the work yourself. 14 grand if you paid for new stuff and laborcoffeedrnkr wrote:I definately think that would total over 2500 bucks
