Saw 2 ZR5's today and...

Post by SomeCrew »

They both had stock but bigger looking fender flares...

Do the ZR5's come stock with bigger fender flares?

If so, me=buy 8)

Crew cabs do not have flares stock. The rear wheels do have a "flare" to make the Isuzu bed look more like a Chevy product.

The ZR5's have flares. It is part of an appearance package. They sell for over $200 each. $800-$1000 for a set with hardware IIRC.

So is what you saw the stock ZR5 flares?

Sorry , but this is going to be a mess if there is confusion.

HenryJ since you have aftermarket flares on your truck, do you have the stock rear flare thingies lying around. My truck doesn't have any at all, I have some cheap chrome mouldings and was looking for the rear flares.

I do have them. They were even in the classifieds for quite a while. Flares and hardware. Painted light pewter variation #2.

PM me an offer.

You would probably have to discontinue use if the chorme mouldings. I don't think they would work on the rear.
Are the fronts in good enough shape to remove and not show a wear line?

Another thing to keep in mind is that the rearend is already narrower, adding these will make it look worse yet. You would also have to modify the body moulding that you have. The little piece in front of the fender would have to be removed, and the piece behind cut back. There is also the issue of mounting. Holes will have to be drilled both inside and out. This will take some effort, not just a simple bolt on. Bubaloo's truck shows some of this since he is running without flares right now.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just "eyes wide open" :D

I'm not very fond of the chrome mouldings HJ. I was going to remove all of them including the black one running down the sides. After the accident with the tire chains, the replacement ones that the body shop put on don't match. They are darker of course and the chrome is just shinier. :x

I just thought of something...Does your truck even have the Isuzu bed? In the above picture the fender bulge is not visible. It also looks like you have the same body line extended edge as the front fenders.
Is your bed a S-10 bed that has been shortened?
Since yours is one of the pre-production crew cabs, there may be differences.

I don't recall for sure , but I don't think my rear fenders are the same as yours.

This picture kind of shows what they look like without the flares.

That's a good link. Thanks for the "outside the box" F-150 thought. I'll check in to it. I've got about 12-14 more months of good tread on my 31s, so I've got some time to do some research.

Hey Pauleo,

Do you know a girl named Kris Reinshield (that was her name prior to marriage) from Lancaster? She was born and raised there. Think she is a teacher now.

I definately know the Reinshield name! The family has a butcher shop out in Bremen. I don't, however, know Kris. Sorry.

That is probably her brother or father who runs the shop. She has a sister named Carol too.

Probably. I don't know any of them personally. Just the business.

Wow! Small world, huh? I'm assuming you know her from school or something?
