Okay so as a lot of you know I went on an accessory buying extravaganza about a month ago. Well I've got almost everything installed (all but the BL...I just need a free weekend, and the spark plug wires...I just need to figure out exactly how to change these). I got the HPIII put in, got the GM hitch installed (after pre-modifying it for the BL), got the dress-up items on, installed the Daystar shackles and rear wheel spacers and then went to the muffler shop and got my exhaust work done. I decided to go with a custom 3-inch catback with a Deltaflow 40 muffler and a 4-inch SS tip. I must say that I absolutely love the exhaust!!! Sounds powerful, sounds deep, and sounds DAMN good!!! Thanks to everyone for all their recommendations on exhaust...I couldn't be happier!!!
Anyway, I've put about 500 miles on the truck since I did all of this (including two 200 miles road trips the last couple days for work). Before I did all of this (but after I did the el' cheapo intake mod and dropped in a K&N filter) the best highway mileage I had seen was about 16 MPG. I am now proud to report that after the HPIII and exhaust (in conjunction with the intake mod and K&N) I am now getting right at 20MPG on the highway. An inprovement of basically 4 MPG!!! I was expecting maybe 2 MPG but I am really excited to have gained 4 MPG (in addition to obvious power gains of I'm guessing maybe 20 HP). This is just great!!!
Anyway, thanks again to everyone for all their recommendations on everything...it really helps to talk to people that have experience when you are planning on buying things that you know nothing about (which is why I hate shopping for anything at Best Buy...it's a store full of idiots selling stuff they know nothing about). Thanks again...and I know that I need to get some pics snapped...but first I need to wash the truck and take 'em!).

I have the 3.73 gears (coincidentally with the G80 locker option) and I'm still running stock wheels and tires (I am planning on getting some bigger tires once I get the BL installed and then we'll see what it does...but for now I'm happy).

Exactly what I'm running. Glad you like it I know that I do too
Keep an ear to that exhaust. If it sounds quieter than usual, or if you notice some spark knock, suspect that the pre-cat may be plugging. Mine is a little louder after it's removal , but I still like the sound

Is this something that you did yourself or did you take it somewhere to have the pre-cat removed? I kinda not really asked the guys at the muffler shop but they didn't really want to get into it (having anything to do with a catalytic converter that is). Just curious.
I took the sawzall (reciprocal saw) and cut it out , then went to the muffler shop and had pipes and flange welded in place.
There is a pre-cat thread on what I did.
There may indeed be "legal issues" involved with this so doing it youself would keep the installer out of harms way. If you have a friend they may be able to do it?
Mine felt confident that the main cat is more that suitable for the emissions, and I did not set a light , so He is likely correct.
