The 04-05 ZR2 Blazers have an optional autotrac feature with the automatic trans. I wonder what transfer case they are using. I wish I had this option on my Crew. I wonder how hard it would be to do this conversion on the CC? Here is some info and a picture of the dash switch from chevrolet.com.
" The standard Insta-Trac 4x4 electric transfer case system (on 4x4 models only) lets you shift on the fly from 2WD to 4WD HI and back with the push of a button. An Autotrac 4x4 system is available on Blazer 4x4 models with an automatic transmission. Along with the ability to manually select 2 HI, 4 HI and 4 LO, when AUTO 4WD is engaged, Autotrac automatically transfers power between rear and front wheels whenever rear-wheel slippage is detected ".

From what I found it would take a doner. The transfer case has speed sensors on both the front & rear yokes & the PCM controls the clutches. You need PCM, Transfer case & all wiring. S-10warehouse on ebay can fix you up. he has the knowledge too.killian96ss wrote:The 04-05 ZR2 Blazers have an optional autotrac feature with the automatic trans. I think the autotrac option was available in just about all the GM trucks, except the S-10 crewcabs. Why it was never an option on our trucks, I'll never understand. I would have gladly paid extra for the option rather than trying to explain to Mrs. Rusty when and when not to have it in 4wd. We had some snow the other day, but not a lot, and she drove all the way home in 4wd. I have to wonder how much of that was dry pavement.

Was the autotrac available in any S10, or just the full size models?

I have the same problem trying to explain to my woman about when to use and not to use the 4WD. If I had autotrac, the Auto button would be exclusively for her.Rusty wrote:I would have gladly paid extra for the option rather than trying to explain to Mrs. Rusty when and when not to have it in 4wd.
