There is a bunch of different ideas on the "shaving" technique but a warm environment, either in a heated garage of using a mild srtting on a heat gun or your household's hairdryer. Use some heavy duty fishing line and work it underneath the emblem and gently "saw" it back and forth keeping the pressure away from the painted surface.
Plenty of the gluing residue witll be left on your paint.
A professional that installed decals on public service vehicles recommended a product called OOps that is found in the wallyworld paint section.
I have used it, it works well but, plan on a sore thumb from "rolling the old adhesive off
I have used it to remove the old vent visor adhesive from the visor and vehilcle when they have worked loose as well as my emblems. The Mrs. is wanting her body molding removed off her cavalier for graphics but I am stalling due to a couple of winter cracks on my thumbs...........

I removed mine with my wifes blow dryer , just heat them well then start pulling them off the hardest parts getting it started then they come right off. To remove the left over glue I used WD40 on a rag and it rubs right off then follow up with some wax . and your done. While your at it dont forget to replace that Gold bowtie on the grille

I let mine bake in the summer sun to get the adhesive soft, then used fishing line and Goo Gone.
