I think iI saw in a previous post that you guys can change the shift points with this unit.
Can you change the torque converter clutch engage & disengage points?
This lugging up hills 40 MPH/ 1200 RPM is driving me nuts

Nope HPIII won't change the converter lock, and the shift points are for WOT.
I have a friend who put in a toggle switch for the converter lock-up. He could flip the switch and it would not lock-up.
Just an idea.
I just drop mine into 3rd if it wants to lug on a hill.

I'm not sure if we can use a switch in the lead to the TCC. These newfangeled things have somekinda feedback to the Power train Control Unit...It even senses slippage in the TTC & will release it. In 3rd mine locks up at a lower speed than 4th but lugs & releases on the same hills where 4th cruises up without locking @ 35 mph. (I feel like I'm talking in circles)

I think he tapped the line to the switch on the brake pedal.
And you're right the 2001 PCM is really picky about what mods it will let you get away with.
I feel like I'm in the movie fighting with HAL...."I know what I'm trying to do HAL, everything will be just fine trust me..."
I haven't really looked into how this system is controlled, so I don't have any good answers, ....yet

I just happened to think that , maybe the shift firmness helped the situation. I haven't really had any annoying lock-up or lugging problems. Other than ocasionally needing to shift to third for a steep grade ( more so that it won't keep shifting back and forth)
