Well, got the shell on my truck (thanks SoCalDave!) and it looks great!
Its a better match than I'd even hoped for.
You can see my dad's ex-cab '03 sitting in front of mine with my Delta box on it.. I moved it over to his truck between rain storms last weekend since I was going to put on the shell.
Dave even gave me the shelf he bult for inside the bed. Will work great for carrying the sound equipment, I can put the speakers/amps on top and the sound board/mics underneath!
Took it down last night to the camper shell shop and had the 3rd brakelight and dome light wired up.. Didnt want to deal with running a wire for the brakelight myself, since they have a new 'trick' electronic box that mounts inside the d/s tailight and controls the brakelights from there..

You should have checked with us about wiring that third brake light for it though It is easy there is a light blue wire inside the LH rear frame rail ready for it. Just run it up to your light and you're done
Sell that "trick box" back to them if you can.

The box is doing something with the brake lights and the brightness or something.. Not sure exacty what.. I know with it in the led-bar 3rd brakelight seems brighter with no flicker.
Not too bad though, they only charged me the labor and not for the box.. I had then run a constant-hot through the frame from the power tap on the power distro center for the dome light also.. Since they have an easier way to get under it than I do (I need a lift... or a pit... or a place for a lift or a pit... ).
My next 'big' project for it is a bettery in the bed..
I'm going to get the brake controller and 7-way wiring done for RV trailers (does this model have a harness under the dash for the brake controller? I know fullsize did, but I didnt see one on here).. When they put the power line going back for the trailer, I'm going to have a Yellow Top optima mounted in the front p/s of the bed in a box.. Then the radio gear, and future lighting, will all pull from that battery. That battery will be on the same ignition controlled charging circuit as a trailer will be when its connected.. Plus the added benefit of, if the trailer battery gets low, I can plug it into the truck, with the ignition off, and it will pull from the battery in the bed as an extra source of power on the trailer.. My 5th wheel that I'm selling had dual Group 27 deel cycles, but most trailers the size I'm looking for to pull with the CC dont have duals, just a single Group 27 if your lucky, alot are Group 24..

man I wish I had that setup instead of my blazer - would be much more helpful in getting my airplanes and gear to the field.
of course sometimes they take up less space coming home than they did going to the field.

Yeah, mine always seemed to look like that afterwards, too! They were easier to transport though! Bring them to the field in the back of a van, haul them back home in a garbage bag.adrenalnjunky wrote:man I wish I had that setup instead of my blazer - would be much more helpful in getting my airplanes and gear to the field.

Re: New shell
Upon further examination, the 'trick box' is a fuse and a line filter.. Supposed to keep the LEDs from flickering.. wouldnt need it, but since they didnt chagre for it I'll take it They said they started putting them in the newer vehicles when the 3rd brake light is LED based to stop flickering they were seeing in some of the trucks..HenryJ wrote:
