Seriously though, I lived in Seattle Washington for a while and used to explore the trails up in the mountains there as well as took some trips up into Canada. I also traveled down to the Oregon coast once and loved it. I always wanted to see Alaska but never got the chance. Compared to the Washington DC area, the scenery in the northwest is fantastic (at least I think so). I'm hoping someday we can move back out that way.

well ill extend you the same hand i will wive anyone else here who are helping my seemingly impossiple dreams come true with the crew lodging and a superlifted explorer you just need to pay your way and know how to drive a stick (then again if you cant drive a stick you can just fake it or use penee) (penee is the s10)
Drive a stick huh? Well, it may have been a while but I think I can still remember how to shift a 13 speed Fuller Roadranger tranny so I'd say I can drive a stick. Maybe someday?camelott112 wrote:well ill extend you the same hand i will wive anyone else here who are helping my seemingly impossiple dreams come true with the crew lodging and a superlifted explorer you just need to pay your way and know how to drive a stick (then again if you cant drive a stick you can just fake it or use penee) (penee is the s10)
The wife and I have talked about what we are going to do in the next 5-10 years. Where we live now, suburbia is rapidly catching up with us. There is a 550 house development going in 2 miles down the road in what was supposed to be zoned farm land only. We figure in the next 5 years or so, they will be buying the farm behind us and probably buy out us and our 8 neighbors as well at which point we will move completely out of the area. My wife wants to move to Florida but did say she liked the idea of Alaska (talk about an extreme here). I don't really care where we move as long as we are a 1000 miles from the Washington DC area! I hate this place!

Speaking of visiting other places.... Anyone know what is up with the gas pumps in Oregon? I was on my way to Tacoma, and was not allowed to pump my own gas druing my two stops. Very weird. Other than that, the northwest is very beautiful country. I can't believe all the green everywhere.
I didn't do it, it was already like that when I got it.

One of two? states in the nation that believe the average Joe is not smart enough to pump his own gas.border man wrote:.... Anyone know what is up with the gas pumps in Oregon? ... was not allowed to pump my own gas...
I guess there would be quite a few minimum wage jobs lost if we pumped our own?

We went up through Oregon ans Washington after I graduated H.S. in '89.. My dad worked at a gas station when he was in college (he said "back when full service MEANT full service"). On our way back we came through the coast area of Northern Ca.. We stopped at one little mountain town (dont recall the name) right inside CA from the Oregon border.. My dad almost fell out of the car.. Not only did 2 people actually 'run' out to the car when we pulled in, and pumped the gas, one actually went around and CHECKED the tires, oil, water, and washer fluid.. for the same price we had been seeing regular 'do it yourself' stations on the highway for.. He said he was convinced that kind of service station had died in the 60's..
