Another Milemarker hitch mounted

I didn't want to mess up the other threads with this since it is not a pushbar mount.

It is a Hidden Hitch brand mount and a Mile Marker 9000lb. electric winch.

I bought it with a couple of the Warn quick connects but I needed more for a rear connector and for booster cables, so I bought some NAPA/Belden booster cable quick connectors and notched/slotted them to accept the Warn ends.

This allows me to attach my booster cables to the front and rear of the truck. I can also use the booster cables to attach to the winch. This allows me to put the winch in another vehicles receiver , and use the booster cables to attach to their battery.

Although having a winch along has been a good luck charm for me. When I have it , I don't get stuck. And it is just as much fun to pull others out too

Thought I'd add something about the lousy remote that came with the Milemarker 9000lb winch.

You can see it in that photo. It is a rubber sealed unit, Press one side to reel in the other to reel out.
But in cold weather you need "Popeye forearms" to press the button. There is no way that my wife could activate the button.
It is nice that it is sealed and seems durable, but there is no way you could wear it out since it is nearly unusable in cold conditions

So I cut the line and added some three prong twist lock connectors. This way I can use the pistol grip controller off of the old SuperWinch, which is much more user friendly.
It has a thumb switch for forward or reverse, and an index finger trigger to activate. This should make winching much easier

Anybody try the wireless remote? Just curious

Wireless remote? Really? Well, I guess it makes more sense on a winch than having a wireless remote for a window air conditioner like the one I have in my garage.

Well, never got to use her, but I hope she gives you years of trouble free use Brule

AND, I hope you get stuck every single time you go offroading with that winch

Brule, did you use Hidden Hitch part # 5001 (old #), 65004 (new #) for your front hitch? This mod has been on the wish list for a while so I'm trying to gather more info which should help motivate me some. I would prefer to have the "hidden" version like yours, because the stock mounting method looks kind of stupid not to mention too low.

I like the idea of having a portable front or rear mounted winch instead of some huge bumper/grill combo with a permanent mount winch. It's nice to know that you can easily pull yourself from either direction depending on the situation. Are you using a universal type winch cradle or is it S10 specific? Have you used the Milemarker much? If so, how did it perform? I've been in way too many situations in the past year where a winch would have been useful.

He has a custom made version. Wish he'd build me one

I can't remember the brand of the winch cradle. I originally bought it from heckethorn on Ebay. It's pretty stout.

Walt is right I made my hitch. I tried to put as much information as possible on my mod page - Hidden Front Receiver Hitch & Raised Rear Hitch
I still have the template for the 3/8" mounting plate. I think you could easily copy the hitch. I'll help how ever I can.

The winch cradle is a hidden hitch mount. It is rated at a 9000# line pull. A nice match for the winch.
Both the winch mount and winch came from Walt.

I haven't done any hard pulls yet. I pulled an old car around sideways and winched it up onto a friends trailer. Easy as cake even with having three out of four flat tires.

That warn mount is a nice one. I have not compared the specs or prices. My muffler guru has that warn mount on his truck.

I agree that all of the commercially available hitches sit way to low. Adding the winch to those low mount just kills the approach angle. Mine sits higher. I like that.

It is a little tricky to insert the Bully locking hitch pin, but not terrible. I can't think of anything that I would change.

Oh yea...another note on getting the Warn receiver. If you have a body lift, the receiver will sit below your front valance unless you do some major modifications. Like Brule said, it'll kill your approach angle.
