As close to stock as possible on lift

Post by code3crew »

Hey everybody...........It's been a long time since I have been here! I have a lift question. I want my truck to look like the ZR5 or ZR2 (the one that looks lifted) I want to do as little to the truck as possible. I run lights and siren so I don't want to flip the thing (It's fun to fly past a cop doing 70 MPH and have him wave!) and I was wondering what the difference is on this suspension? Can I order all the parts and just swap? And can I buy it all for under say $500.00? I saw a extended cab that looked WAY higher than mine and I was jelous! Thanks for the help everyone

Is this the one? This is what is the closest to stock? http://store.summitracing.com/default.a ... 6&x=11&y=7

Is there a way to add the ZR5 suspension or would ordering all those Chevy pieces be allot more than this?

You already have the same suspension as a ZR5. The suspension on all Non ZR2 4x4 S series trucks is RPO code Z85. ZR5 is only an appearance package.
Without going into specifics, a ZR2 suspension is almost identical to ours, but it has lower suspension mounting points on the frame. This and larger tires are what give the ZR2 its lift. So no, you can't buy and bolt on a ZR2 suspension.

A body lift does not change the suspension in any way. It does nothing more than lift the body off the frame.

OH OK

Post by code3crew »

Sorry I could rebuild the truck if I had too but i can not articulate what I want to say. So I will say it this way. I want my Indigo blue mettalic 03 s-10 crew cab to look several inches taller with bigger tires to traverse the trails and deep winter snow with the greatest of ease. and I don't want to spend 2 months pay to do it. All help so far has been great! Thank you everyone

I think that you are asking about the same thing as this guy wanting to look like a ZR2

click me

Cheapest method is the BL and tires.

You can add flares later. Who knows KCustom's Gross cut-out flares might fit 31's without the BL? If you are the patient type ;)

Funny

Funny Funny! I am not sure that this is what I really need and I am also not sure it is NOT what I need? Does that make sense (I know I am confused to) Do I need a body or a suspension lift? Should I just raise the body 2 inches OR should I have bought the ZR2 a year ago! :)

crewcabs don't come with a "zr2" package. and there is no one "kit" that will convert your crew cab to a zr2. the zr5 is an appearence package for the crewcab. there is no difference whatsoever mechanically or suspension related between the crewcab and the crewcab zr5. so, to answer your question, if you want "zr2" you give up the crewcab.

there are however ways to modify your crewcab to make it very similar to the zr2. as is explained by HenryJ in the thread linked above.

Sounds to me that you want a suspension lift. IMO this is the best way to go. However, it can get very expensive when you factor in not only the cost of the lift kit itself, but professional installation if you choose not to do it yourself, new wheels, tires, etc.

yep, you should of gotten a red one...they go faster

just keep reading and learning. everyone here has already answered you question and then some.

BLs are cheaper than SLs, so thats the cheapest lift. so do that...and its really really common considering that almost all of the trucks on this board have the PA 192
